Access RoadRoger Wade Blaker, age 60, of Social Circle, GA, passed away March 2, 2012, at Newton Medical Center, Covington, GA, following a brief illness. Wade was the son of Ray William Blaker and Eloise Wade Blaker Shepard. He was born in Memphis, TN, and moved with his family to DeKalb County, GA, at the age of 3. He graduated from Avondale High School and West Georgia College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sociology. Following his college graduation, Wade moved to Gainesville, FL, where he co-founded and co-operated the restaurant Café Gardens, which catered to students of the University of Florida. He later returned to Georgia, where he operated a business in Lithonia and met his beloved wife, Ann, who had migrated from Indiana to teach in DeKalb County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Tempel Blaker; his father, Ray William Baker; his aunt, Evelyn Wade White; and his uncle, Julian Paul Wade.Wade is survived by his son, John Tempel (JT) Blaker of Oxford, MS; his mother, Eloise Shepard of Decatur, GA; his mother-in-law, Hazel Dauby Tempel of Princeton, IN; his step-sister, Katherine (Kay) Shepard Lynch, and her husband, Paul Michael Lynch of Social Circle, GA; and a wide circle of relatives and friends. A Memorial Service for Wade will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2012, 11:00 AM, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, with The Rev. Timothy H. Graham presiding. A reception will be held in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Monday, March 5, from 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in Wade's memory, be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 4140 Clark St., Covington, GA 30014.
