Ronald Eugene Cochran, 89, of Covington, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 4, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
“Papa” as most people knew him was born in Atlanta and spent his life in GA with his wife Edie and his three daughters. During his life, he worked as a truck driver, carpenter, and jack of all trades. After 48 years of working at Kraft Foods, he retired and devoted the remainder of his life serving the Lord and sharing God’s life with others through church ministries and mission trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Major Edward Cochran and Ora Belle Wallace Cochran, his seven siblings, and his beloved wife of 53 years, Edie Cochran. He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Gunnyon (Gary), Rhonda Coody (Bob), Julie Cochran. His seven grandchildren, Gary Gunnyon (Heather), Amanda Chatham (Daniel), Racheal Everett Younkin, Michael Coody, Hannah Haynes (Michael), Tony Coody (Deanne), Mandy Puryear (Todd); and his ten great-grandchildren, Lauren Gunnyon, Annabelle Chatham, Nathan Haynes, Josie Chatham, Maddie Haynes, Danielle Coody, Drake Coody (Lacey), Brannon Puryear, Bailey Puryear, and Jonah Puryear; as well as nephews whom he loved like brothers, Bob Cochran (Jackie), Cecil Singer (Myra).
A Funeral Service for Mr. Cochran will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024, 5:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Myron Jenkins officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Saturday, January 6, from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M., and then again on Sunday, from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M.
