Ronnie Chapman of Conyers, passed away October 15, 2017, at 75 years of age. A native of Dekalb County, Mr. Chapman graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School in 1961. After high school, he worked as a mechanic for General Motors, seven years at Mathis Dairy, and a dairy in Griffin, before opening his own dairy in Madison. Following his true passion for horses, Mr. Chapman worked as a farrier for 21 years in the Metro Atlanta area, and was a member of Rockdale Trailblazers. Among his other pastimes were camping and trail riding. Mr. Chapman also enjoyed working with Rottweilers, and he and his wife entered them in dog shows. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli Jack and Josie Leigh (Waller) Chapman.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 34 years, Ruth Chapman; sons and daughter-in-law, Mike Chapman of Dunwoody, Paul and Robin Chapman of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Dori Chapman, Joshua Chapman; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Daniel McCord of Woodstock; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Chapman will be Thursday, October 19, 2017, 3:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Paul Leslie officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
