Roy Benson Lane,

Roy Benson Lane, Sr., of Porterdale, passed away June 6, 2013, at the age of 64. Daddy Roy, as he was affectionately known as, loved spending time with his family, fishing, playing his guitar and singing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. Lane and Fairy Bell (Garner) Lane Newman; and his sisters, Patsy Allen and Kay Bagwell.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lane of Porterdale; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Kevin Ellis of Oxford; sons, Benson Lane, Jason Lane, both of Covington; grandchildren, Josh and Ashley Ellis of Newborn, Cody Ellis of Oxford, Jacob and Taylor Lane, both of Covington; great-grandchildren, Emily and Delainey Ellis of Newborn; 2 step-daughters; 3 step-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Lane, Johnny Loyd, Lonnie Loyd, Freddie Lane; sister, Faye Drake; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Roy Benson Lane, Sr., will be held Sunday, June 9, 2013, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev. Jerry Barrett officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, June 8, from 5:00-9:00 PM.
