Roy Howard Mitchell

Roy Howard Mitchell, Sr., of Covington, passed away January 3, 2015, his 87th birthday. Mr. Mitchell loved music, especially bluegrass, gospel and country. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in church, as well as fishing and gardening. Mr. Mitchell attended Cornish Mountain Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pansy M. Mitchell

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Vivian Irene Watson, Robert H. and Linda Mitchell, Roy H., Jr. and Avil Mitchell, Marcia Karen and Doug Shelton, Brenda S. and Paul Campbell, Teresa Lynn Mitchell; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Edith Mitchell; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Julia Mitchell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Mitchell will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Jerry Barrett officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Monday, January 5, from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
