Rufus Richard Johnson

Rufus Richard Johnson, of Covington, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the age of 91. Mr. Johnson was a devoted husband, dedicated worker, and cherished member of the Apostolic Community Church for over 20 years. He was married to his beloved wife for 73 wonderful years and spent 35 years working faithfully at Warren Refrigeration. Known for his love of the outdoors, he found joy in fishing, camping, and caring for his chickens. Mr. Johnson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Rex Johnson and Sarah Gladys Johnson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Margaret Lanell Johnson; sisters, Ida Virginia Harper, Helen Brenda Williams, Rachel Carver; brother, Alvin Robert “Bob” Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Johnson will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, one hour prior to his service, from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M.
