Ruth V. Jones

Ruth V. Jones, of Oxford, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the age of 95. Mrs. Jones resided in Newton County for over 30 years, and was a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, in Atlanta, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was employed with Lithonia Lighting from 1976 – 1982 and worked and volunteered her time at the Rockdale County Senior Service Center. Additionally, Mrs. Jones was a past president and active member of the Newton General Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. Above all, she was a devoted mother who always put her family and children first in her life. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Jones; daughter, Madeline Crosson; son, Bobby E. Jones; grandson, Robert Stewart; parents, Floyd B. and Alma Hunkapiller; and half-brothers, Harvey McCravy, Haskle McCravy.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia LeVierge, Denise Hancock; sons, Bruce Jones, Keith Jones; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Jones will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Mike Hardy officiating, and interment following in Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive SW, in Atlanta. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
