Sandra Lee Waits

Sandra Lee Waits, of Conyers, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 60. Mrs. Waits was a devoted employee for Rockdale County Public Schools, serving Lorraine Elementary as a baker and caring for all the meals for children with special dietary needs. Her cinnamon rolls and yeast rolls were legendary among the school staff, getting special requests to make them often for her peers. Additionally, Mrs. Waits made delicious cakes for her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to Elvis, reading, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies in her spare time. Mrs. Waits also loved doing crafts, especially diamond painting. She appreciated the simple beauty of flowers, lilies and tulips being some of her favorites. Mrs. Waits treasured spending time with her grandchildren and making memories with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Pug” Waits; stepfather, Richard Hicks; and brother, Jeff Basham.

She is survived by her daughters, Tiffany Batchelor (Allen), Stephanie Reyes (Justin), Rhonda Waits; son, Robert “Tommy” Waits (Nikki); 5 grandchildren; mother, Vivien Hicks; father, Benny Basham (Carol); sisters, Dawn McMurray (David), April Folsom (Jim), Rachel Darby (Chip); and brothers, Steve Basham, Robbie Tyrrell, Ricky Hicks (Dawn).

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Waits will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, 10:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Justin Adams officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, September 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
