Sara Case, of Rutledge, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the age of 81. Mrs. Case, affectionately known as “Pedi” and “Nana” by her grandchildren, was the rock of the family and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for the family get-togethers at the lake house with her sisters cooking big breakfasts with homemade biscuits and all the fixings that went with it, her lemon meringue pies, and big fish dinners with freshly caught fish. Mrs. Case was selfless, always forgiving, and self-reliant. You could always count on her for unconditional love and forgiveness no matter what. Mrs. Case was depended on by others to lend a listening ear with a positive outlook and without passing judgement. Her grandchildren treasured her dearly and had the following to say about her.
The most memorable thing to me was how she handled responsibility. A big part of my personality is wanting to be self-reliant to a point that others feel they can rely on me, and I believe that comes from watching nana. If anyone ever needed help nana was the first person they called because they knew she could handle it. (Grandson Jake Bailey)
The thing I loved about her the most was that she was forgiving. It didn’t matter how bad you messed up or what you did she was still your grandmother and her love was unconditional. The hardest part of admitting you were wrong is the fear of rejection. With nana that wasn’t a factor and I think growing up with that love made everyone more willing to identify their short comings and become better more understanding people. (Grandson Jake Bailey)
Pedi will always be the toughest and sweetest woman I know. All the many memories I have growing up of Pida and paw paw are just irreplaceable. I’ll never forget how much energy there was in that kitchen when she and her sisters would be in there cooking a feast for the entire family to eat. (Grandson Jonathan Case)
All I can say is she was the most loving, caring and selfless person in the world. (Grandson Robby Case)
Nana was the best grandma you could have ever asked for. You could go and talk to her for hours. Some of my best memories were of her and papa telling us all their adventures. One memory I have that I will never forget is when she got on the phone for hours and she would finally hang, she would have the phone imprint on the side of her face. (Grandchild Dustin Bailey)
