Shelvia Jean Roden

Shelvia Jean Roden was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the age of 85.

She was born to Elizabeth Raydelle and Robert L Hawkins on December 14, 1936 and loved spending time with her seven brothers and sisters. They recall her kindness and how talented she was at playing the piano, which she often played at church.

Jean was a loving mother to Randy, Peggy, and Scotty, as well as to her beloved son Chris who passed away as an infant. She was a loving grandmother of three, great- grandmother of nine, and great-great-grandmother of five.

Jean had a love for her family, friends, children, animals, flowers, coffee, and sweets. She personified 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 in showing her love with patience, kindness, gratitude, and humility. When you were loved by Jean, you were loved well.

She was preceded in death by parents, Elizabeth Raydalle and Robert L. Hawkins; sister, Juanita Brown; brother, Dean Hawkins. She is survived by her siblings, Bonnie Lou Davis, Jerry Hawkins, Carol Williams, Debbie Everson, and Wanda Arp.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on November 5th, 2022, at Toccoa Baptist Church, 7670 Old Hwy 76, Morganton, GA 30560 in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
