Sheryl (Sherry) Lynne Gilliam, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at the age of 56. Mrs. Gilliam was hardworking, independent, and enjoyed working out and staying healthy. She was talented in restoring furniture, cooking, and handling finances. Mrs. Gilliam had a great sense of fashion, humor, a beautiful smile, and sparkling brown eyes. In her spare time, she liked traveling to the mountains, and beach, going on cruises, and gambling at the casino. Mrs. Gilliam was habitual in nature and took great joy in drinking coffee every morning. Above all, time spent with her family is what she treasured most. Mrs. Gilliam cherished her husband dearly and affectionately called him her lumberjack. Her grandchildren were her world, and she thoroughly enjoyed shopping for them on the weekends. Additionally, Mrs. Gilliam was described as daddy’s girl to many and inherited her practical and frugal ways from him. She was preceded in death by her mom, Kathy Maxwell; grandmother, Emoly Jane Wilbanks; mother-in-law, Margie Doris Griffin; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Malcom.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Lonnie Gilliam, III; son, Lonnie “Gil” Gilliam, IV; grandchildren, McKenna Gilliam, Lonnie “Beau” Gilliam, V; father, Bobby Autry; as well as sister, Brandi Haase (Eric).
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Gilliam will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Daniel Jones officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to her service from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M.
