Shirley J. Nelson

Shirley J. Nelson, age 70, of Oxford, died May 10, 2010.  Shirley worked as an Executive Secretary at Miami Testing Laboratory in Miami, FL for 30 years.  She and her husband Roy retired to Oxford, GA in 2000.  She will be remembered as a Godly Christian lady who continually shared the Gospel with everyone she crossed paths with and always encouraged others to serve God diligently in every area of their lives.  She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Aurore Benoit Cordeiro.  Surviving are her husband, Roy W. Nelson; daughter and son-in-law, Karen S. and William A. Hinson III of St. John, IN; son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Jill Stafford of Oxford; step-sons and step-daughter-in-law, Todd and Marty Nelson and Michael Nelson, all of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren, Justin Stafford, Jacob Stafford, Jimmy Stafford, Joel Stafford, Lauren J. Hinson, William A. Hinson IV; great-granddaughter, Halley F. Stafford; step-grandchildren, Jordan Nelson, Katie Nelson; sisters and brother-in-law, Eileen and Roger Averill of Center Point, IN, Evelyn Cordeiro of Plains, MT; brother, Leon Cordeiro of Dillsboro, IN. Funeral Services for Mrs. Nelson will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, May 13, 2010, at The Baptist Tabernacle, with Dr. R. Hudson Moody and Rev. Bill Stafford, officiating, and interment in Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the funeral home toward funeral expenses.Family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1215 Access Road Wednesday, May 12, from 6 to 9 PM.
