Shirley Ann Vissering

Shirley Ann Vissering, of Social Circle, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 87. A woman of deep faith and unwavering love for her family, Mrs. Vissering cherished every moment with her grandchildren, never having enough of their laughter and joy. As a military wife, she embraced the adventures of travel, from camping trips to cruises and sightseeing excursions, creating lasting memories along the way.

Mrs. Vissering found peace and purpose in her Bible study group, where she shared her wisdom and kindness. A talented crocheter and a great cook, she delighted in nurturing those around her. Always a sports fan, she could often be found cheering on her favorite teams, never missing a game. Her legacy of love, faith, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darold D. Vissering; parents, Switzer and Sally Hawkins; and brother, Raymond Hawkins. 

Survivors include her sons, Darold A. Vissering (Deborah), Chris Todd Vissering; grandchildren, Allen Todd Weaver (Andrea), Derek A. Vissering (Keri), Devin H Vissering (Katelyn), Erica [Drake] Vissering; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Vissering, Peyton Vissering, Emily Weaver, Gabriel Vissering, Stella Vissering, Dalaney Vissering; brothers, Kenneth [Dudley] Hawkins (Sandra), Tony Hawkins (BJ); as well as several nieces and nephews. 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Vissering will be held Monday, January 13, 2025, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Bill Harris officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family Monday, two hours prior to her service from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
