Shirley Allen Fields, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the age of 86. Shirley retired from Georgia Power Company in 1996 after a varied and active career in the administrative field in Atlanta, Georgia and Toronto, Canada. Additionally, she served abroad as a Secretary to the Ambassadors in Beirut, Lebanon and Tehran, Iran. Shirley did not have any children of her own but was an active aunt in the lives of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Barron and Sara Wilson Allen; brothers, Charles Allen (Sandy), of Blairsville, Georgia, Wayne Allen (Pam), of Dallas, Georgia; sister, Barbara Allen Rogers Manning (John), of Covington, Georgia; and brother-in-law, Bob Hannon.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Allen Hannon; brother, James W. Allen (Brenda), of Griffin, Georgia; stepdaughter, Sue Manners (Charles), of Toronto, Canada; stepson, Darryl Fields, of Toronto, Canada; nieces and nephews, Deborah, Chuck, David, Karen, Mike, Susan, Pam, Wendy, Alison, Cory, Michelle, Lori, Jason, Bryan; and numerous cousins.
A Funeral Service for Shirley will be held Monday, February 13, 2023, 1:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, 2120 Keys Ferry Road, in McDonough. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to her service from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
