Steve Barker, age 69, of Covington, GA, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023. Steve moved back to the metro area a few years ago after living in Ireland for several years.

While at Towers, Steve lived in Turner Heights on Cornwall Road not far from Towers High School in Decatur, where he graduated in 1972. He received a Bachelor of Science in Radiology from Gwinnett Technical School and worked as an emergency room radiologist technician in trauma and surgery for over a decade.

Steve expanded his career path by working as a consultant and CEO of Walker Solar Products, LLC, and served as President and managing owner of Solar Energy Storage, LLC. One of Steve’s lifetime passions was making music with his friends and his band. He performed in many local venues and at out-of-state venues, including at The Roxy in Los Angeles, California in 1988. He toured in Ireland. Another passion of Steve’s was woodturning, and he was known for creating the most beautiful wooden crafts using handheld tools and a wood lathe. He had hoped to turn this hobby into another career. Steve shared a special place in his heart for his dog, Augie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Boyd and Statsie Island Barker

Steve is survived by his Titan sisters, Pam Barker Hostetter and Pam’s husband Richard, and Joni Barker Higgins and her husband Don Hoffmeyer; nephews, Shane Poda, Cameron Hostetter, Seth Higgins, Slade Higgins (Lauren); niece, Jessica Hirst; as well as various loving family and friends.

A Private Memorial Service for Mr. Barker will be held later.
