Van Gibboney of Carlton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the age of 69. Though he was considered a jack-of-all-trades, Mr. Gibboney was a skilled home builder and master carpenter. His hobbies included roller skating and restoring cars, and on trips to the beach, he liked to unearth treasures with his metal detector. Mr. Gibboney will be profoundly missed in his role as a loving husband, father, grandfather and son-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Dorothy (Grau) Gibboney.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Trotman Gibboney; daughters and sons-in-law, Brandy and Chris Morris, Merry and Jamey Mason; son, Jared Gibboney; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Martina Gibboney, Russ and Chris Gibboney; several nieces and nephews; as well as mother-in-law, Linda Trotman Simpson.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Gibboney will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M.
