Virginia (Granny) Boss

Virginia (Granny) Boss, of Covington, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024, at the age of 93.

She was the only daughter of the late William and Rosanna Knight of Buchanan, GA. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Charles Boss. She is survived by her children, Teresa and Mike French of Snellville, GA, Lisa and Greg Floyd of Buford, GA; grandchildren, Drew Floyd and fiancé Sara Walker, Rachel and Landon Saunders, Brent Floyd; and other loving family members.

Having lost her mother when she was 4, Virginia and her father moved to Good Hope, GA where she was raised by her father along with loving aunts and uncles.

She met her late husband, Charles while working together at Carwood Manufacturing, in Monroe, GA. Shortly after marriage in 1960, they moved from Monroe to the close-knit community of Cornish Mountain in Covington, GA, where they lived for the rest of their lives amongst family and friends. After retiring from C. R. Bard in the early 90’s, she became an avid reader, loved trips with family and friends and most of all, spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother – she will be affectionately remembered by her family as ‘being so sweet, sassy, funny and such a tough little lady’.

The family would like to thank those in the Cornish Mountain community for their love and concern for Virginia; the loving and attentive staff of Golden Manor Senior Living; and for her sister-in-law, JoAnn Coker, who was always a doorstep or daily phone call away.

A Graveside Service for Mrs. Boss will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024, 2:00 P.M., in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Lynn Head officiating.
