Vivian Barnes, of Conyers, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, at the age of 94. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She was the owner of Conyers Jewelers for 73 years and worked for First National Bank in Atlanta for 20 years. In her spare time, Mrs. Barnes enjoyed going to antique car shows with her husband. She was selfless and always willing to help anyone in need. Mrs. Barnes will be remembered as the matriarch of the Conyers business community. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Howard Lee “Pee Wee” Barnes; sister, Nellie Murray, Norma Trotter, Lillian Sellers, Kathryn Green.
Survivors include her children, Kay Shepherd, Phil Tidwell (Michelle), grandchildren, Teri Tidwell Stanley (Mark), Jason Tidwell (Amy); great-grandchildren, Jon (Chelsea), Marlee, Will, Brian, Addison, Emily, Ethan; great-great-grandchildren, Mason, Georgia; brother, O.L. Burnette (Joyce).
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Barnes will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Mackie Hawkins officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday, January 5, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Masonic Home of Georgia in her honor, 1477 Nottingham Dr., Macon, GA 31211.
