Vonnie Wood

Access RoadVonnie Wood of Oxford, passed away May 14, 2011, at the age of 68. Vonnie worked for the Newton County Tax Commissioner's office for 25 years. She was an avid photographer, enjoyed reading novels and mountain retreats with her siblings, and genealogy research. She loved attending family recreational events, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Vonnie is loved, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Eugene Wood; mother, Mary (Chafin) Jackson; and her father, John Cowan Moseley.Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Wood of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Wendy Wood; grandchildren, Jeremy, Ansley and Jayce Wood, all of Monticello; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gayle and Jerry Hayes, Angie Strange and John Robison; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Amelia Moseley; nieces and nephews, Staci and Keith Battaglia, John and Canessa Moseley, Gene and Sandy Moseley, Kevin Hayes, Kelli and Chuck Allen, Kim "Bunk" and Todd Shambo, Sheena, Justin, Mallory Strange and Amy Robison; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and beloved pets, Purr and Blackie.Funeral Services for Vonnie will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2011, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday, May 16, from 6-8 PM.
