Wendell J. "Bud" Beal, Sr.

Wendell J. “Bud” Beal, Sr., of Porterdale, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the age of 85. Mr. Beal was a proud patriot and served in the United States Air Force. He was an active member of Led By The Spirit Mission Church and held the duties of song leader for the congregation. After his time in the military ended, Mr. Beal carved out at career at Lithonia Lighting, where he retired. He was a blessing to all who knew him with a selfless spirit. Mr. Beal was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Albert Beal; parents, Barney Robert and Annie Mae Beal; sisters, Helen Bryan, Shug Bishop, Mavis Bishop; and brothers, Emory Beal, Harvey Beal.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Iva Mae Beal; son, Wendell Jerome Beal, Jr; daughter, Doris Galvan; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Beal will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Barney Johnson officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 14, from 10:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.
