William Lawrence Moody "BILL" of Covington Georgia, has been gathered up into the loving embrace of Jesus Christ. On Monday, November 21st, after a downturn in health, Bill completed his journey and was carried into the presence of the Lord. He was about 6 weeks shy of his 76th birthday.
Bill "Honey" is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Shirley Moody. On August 19th, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Together, Bill and Shirley have three grown children: Lori (Bob) Adams; Deborah-deceased (Todd) Roberts; and Sandy (Craig) Hudgins. He sure loved his girls and their husbands, he was so proud of them and their accomplishments in life.
Bill was the proud and adoring granddaddy to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Christann (Brant) Sweat (Annistan, Presleigh & Myla), Ben (Casey) Glanton, TJ Roberts (Mason), Will (Maranda) Glanton (Kaden & Amelia), Stephen Hudgins -Deceased, Elizabeth (Ben) Landers.
Bill was born to Ruby and William (Old Goat) Moody in Griffin, Georgia on January 3rd, 1947. He is survived by his younger sister, Mary Moody Parker (Edward).
He was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and William Moody, his daughter, Deborah Roberts, his grandson and best friend Stephen Hudgins and his nephew Chris Parker.
Bill became a follower of Jesus Christ in 1974. He was an active member of West End Baptist Church who enjoyed being an usher among other duties. In addition to loving his church family and friends...he was doubly blessed to have his Son-in-law be his Pastor.
He was a hard worker and a hands-on mans-man all of his life. In his early years, he was a master carpenter and he worked at Sweetheart Plastics for about 40 years where he retired in 2009. He could do any project with his hands and later had a passion for technology and built computers as a hobby.
In his retirement, he traveled cross country and enjoyed camping with his wife. He loved fishing with and fooling around in the shop welding and making projects with his grandsons. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart and had a special relationship with each great-grandchild as well. He enjoyed watching and cheering them on while they played a variety of sports. Nothing made him happier than to see his babies happy and nothing made him more proud than to do volunteer work in his home church WEBC.
Bill was a devoted and considerate man. He is widely remembered for his wry sense of humor accompanied by a straight face or subtle smile.
All of these passions paled in comparison to the brightness of his love and fidelity to his cherished wife. Bill's exemplary faithfulness to his wife, family and his first love, his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ is self-evident, and will be his enduring legacy. Despite decades of chronic underlying health conditions, he reveled in God's constant provision of grace. In his weakness, Jesus was strong. Full of confidence in his Savior, he finished his race well. The prize he longed for is now his to rest against Jesus, whom he loved and who loved him.
