Jimmy Wayne Carter, of Oxford, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at the age of 73. Mr. Carter spent his life doing what he loved, which was anything and everything related to cars. In 2003, he opened Carter Cars in Walnut Grove. Mr. Carter loved Fords especially, and enjoyed restoring and selling them, as well as going to car shows. He also liked going for rides on his Harley. In addition to his admiration for cars, Mr. Carter took immense pride in caring for his yard and garden, keeping it in pristine condition. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth and Arthur Olin Carter; and sisters, Mary “Fibo” Gower, Patricia “Tricia” Carter Walden.
Mr. Carter is survived by his brother, Olin Carter; along with a multitude of family and friends.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Carter will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Allen Whitley officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to his service from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M.
Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.
